MIDDLE SECONDARY (YEARS 7-9)

The Middle School at Mount Carmel College aims to provide an exciting and dynamic experience of schooling for our students in Years 7, 8 and 9.

In the middle years, we offer an educational approach that caters for the physical, social, emotional, moral and cognitive needs of early teenagers. Middle school bridges the divide between primary and senior secondary education by extending students in this middle phase, equipping them with the skills to become independent learners and successful citizens in this new and ever-changing world.

Our approach to teaching and learning is collaborative, challenging and catering for diverse learning needs.

The development of literacy and numeracy across all core subject areas is a key focus of the Middle School curriculum.

The Home Group teacher is a significant person who will take a personal interest in each of the students in their care.

Years 7 and 8 students experience the wide range of subjects to discover their strengths and likes. The only subject choice in Year 8 is that of a language: Italian or Japanese.

In Year 9 students choose six electives from eleven subjects within their elective groupings.
