Instrumental Music Program

In addition to the classroom music program students undertake at Mount Carmel College, there is also the opportunity for students to undertake private instrumental/vocal lessons from specialised tutors during school hours. The following instruments are available for study.

Guitar                     Voice                    Saxophone
Bass Guitar            Piano                   Trumpet
Drums                     Violin                   Trombone

Participation in the instrumental program gives students the opportunity to develop a life-long skill, promotes self-discipline and organisation, and gives students an opportunity to develop their self-esteem and confidence. Studies also show that children who learn a musical instrument do better at school.

‘...Scientists say that children who are exposed to music, or those who play an instrument, do better in school than those who don’t. Recent research suggests exposure to music may benefit a child’s reading age, IQ and the development of certain parts of the brain’ (Edward Droscher, 2006).

Students wishing to sign up lessons can do so by clicking on the ENROL link on this page and filling in the online form.
